West Orange TX city hall

Our city still has a lot of country left in it.

Family friendly city

West Orange is a family friendly city where everyone knows your name. Located just southwest of Orange and thirty miles east of Beaumont, it demonstrates true small town hospitality. The city was incorporated in 1954 with a population of 2,539 and as of 2010 has a population of 3,443. The community is located close enough to access the culture of the surrounding cities while maintaining a small town atmosphere and incredible hospitality.

We are blessed with large amounts of natural areas, including our eastern border along Adams Bayou, below.

In addition to residential properties amidst natural landscapes, Our tax base includes industrial and commercial propert\ies, many representing major national and international companies. And we still have significant acreage in rural farmland, as seen here.

Attesting to many years of residential use, we are proud of our environment. This includes a large inventory of mature canopy trees such as these live oaks on a home near city hall.

There are many family friendly events throughout the year for members of the community as well as visitors from far and wide. .

The City of West Orange holds its annual “Holiday in the Park” each November.  The City likes to extend an invitation to all in the region to be a part of the festivities. It is set up next door to West Orange City Hall (2700 Western Avenue).

Each year the festival provides a hometown, community gathering bringing in people to celebrate the holiday season. There are food booths, craft booths, children’s games and activities and holiday entertainment. The City Park is located next to City Hall.

For many years attendees have enjoyed listening to West Orange Council member (and former Orange County Judge) Carl Thibodeaux read “The Cajun Night Before Christmas” in his Cajun dialect. With the smell of a fresh cut tree’s filling the air, all the children present assist Mayor Roy McDonald with the countdown to the big finale of seeing the bright lights shine beautifully in the Christmas tree.

West Orange has a community center as well as a gazebo in the City Park.  This gazebo is available to the public (for a fee) for events and entertainment.
